How do you feel about Visual kei or Jrock, and do you feel it’s related to lolita, or not?

This post may be controversial

I actually listen to a good deal of Jrock and I love the aesthetics of Visual Kei, while I do think they can be incorporated into lolita they are styles in their own right. Jrock is very about the music and making a coord around a specific song or band would be a fun thing to do especially for a concert or to go to a festival in. As for it really relating heavily to lolita in any way, I don't think it is, mostly because it isn't really a fashion it's about the music. Anyone can like the music though, including lolitas.

As for Visual Kei, I see it more as a sister fashion to lolita, You can absolutely mix the two and it still fits in both categories. Giving some of the punky/gothy aesthetics a nice lolita silhouette would be a perfect way to do this and the way the makeup is done is absolutely an art form and would be a great addition to an OTT Gothic or Punk coord. Or if you do it right you may be able to tone down the dark colors and replace them with bright or pastel ones and work it into a Hyper Sweet coord. There are also pieces of jewelry, blouses, and patterns from the clothes that you could incorporate into a lolita coord

I also feel like both Visual Kei and J-Rock get inspiration from the aesthetics of Gothic and Punk lolita and on occasion Sweet and Classical. Visual Kei more so than J-rock due to the outlandish nature of the scenes both are a part of. Because whether we like it or not lolita is a very outlandish fashion and while things like that are becoming more and more common those of us in niche fashion communities and just general niche communities need to stand together.

I think there's a good amount of overlap in the fashions of all three communities, but while lolita is all about the fashion the Visual Kei and Jrock communities spawned from the music the artists in them create. It honestly isn't a fair comparison because of the origins of the scenes. Lolita spawned from the feminist movement in Japan while the other spawned from the music created by the bands and artists in the scenes.

These are just my own thoughts on the subject. I would love to hear everyone's opinions though. If you have thoughts about the topic post a comment and let me know. I love interacting with the readers of my blog and possibly making new friends in the process. Thank you for reading.
